Leah Cohen; First Post

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with the author Leah Cohen. We had been reading some of her work in my Creative Writing class. She has written novels such as Train Go Sorry, Heat Lightning (she says she hates the name of this book and it personally reminds me of Grease), and a book that I got to read a bit of; The Grief of Others. Her writing is very strong (even though she is so quiet in real life), she has a brilliant vocabulary, and she was very inspirational to speak to.
She also has a blog called Love as a Found Object where she posts short stories, book reviews, etc. When someone in the class asked her about it, she said that it was her publisher's idea and she had thought that a blog was "self-indulgent". I think that a blog is a form of self expression and an opportunity to share yourself with the world. Once Leah Cohen found a purpose in her blog (she focuses a lot on her mother) I think she understood this as well. So I think that this was, although a lengthy post, appropriate for my first post.

AND NOW . . . An Awkward Photo brought to you by my first post to a blog EVER.
